In view of the announcement by the Islamic Association of North America (ISNA) and having discussions with various Imams in Alberta, we are pleased to inform you that the Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Thursday, May 13, 2020.
Also, further to our previous communication on May 5, 2021, we regret to announce that there will be no Eid Al Fitr prayers at the Islamic Association of Grande Prairie & District this year due to restrictions related to COVID-19.
Eid prayers are meant to bring together families and friends. In view of the latest restrictions, we are only allowed to host 15 persons inside our masjid which doesn’t go in line with the intent and purpose of the Eid salah. Also, administratively, it would be very difficult to manage multiple prayers and at the same time follow all the restrictions inside and outside the masjid.
In view of the above Eid prayer congregation for 2021 Eid Al Fitr is herby cancelled at the Islamic Association of Grande Prairie & District. You can perform Eid prayers at home with your family. Please contact the imam for rules and fatwa regarding Eid Al Fitr at home at 780-512-6166.
